Chess club will take place Mondays after school, 3:30-4:30, from Oct 6-Dec 8 at STEM. Additionally, STEM received a generous offer from Coach Ray at Orangutan Academy in Greenlake! Orangutan is offering STEM students 50% off chess classes and chess quads (mini chess tournaments) during the Autumn 2025 quarter. For information about chess classes or Quads please see the Orangutan Academy website and email chessape@outlook.com to take advantage of the 50% off offer.
Tournaments! Playing in chess tournaments is a very fun experience and a great way to boost your student’s love of the game. A handful of STEM students competed in tournaments last year and would love to grow the STEM tournament team. If you would like to stay up to speed on STEM chess tournament opportunities please sign up to receive informational updates here. Chess tournaments are even better with friends- and we’d love to bring a team trophy home to our school this year!
Join the Enrichment Team as a VIP! VIPs are our Very Important Parent Chaperones and we need at least one VIP per day to support our enrichment classes – we can’t run them without YOU! Parent Chaperones are required to be registered through the district’s official volunteer system.

What’s Enrichment?
STEM K8 PTA coordinates an optional Before/After School Enrichment Program, where families can choose to participate in different enrichment opportunities that their students find interesting. Classes are offered by many different types of teachers in our community – staff members, parents, and local experts teach a wide array of classes. Classes offered throughout the year range from the arts to coding/tech to physical skills.
