STEM 2025 READ-A-THON (April 1-20)

We’re so excited to kick off our big fundraiser for this year, our Read-a-thon! It will run from April 1st through April 20th and we’ve got two big goals this year:

  • Raising $30,000 for the PTA to help fund project based learning, classroom materials, enrichment programs, community events, field trips, our library, and so much more (donation link here)
  • Expand our children’s knowledge and help them reach 100,000 minutes of reading!

Students can earn and select prizes by getting donations, and our whole community can celebrate the power of reading!

How it Works for Readers

We’ll be using Read-a-thon.com to support our fundraising efforts. It’s an all-inclusive platform that will handle processing all donations, student and teacher reading minute reporting, and even provide an online store that kids will be able to engage with based on their fundraising efforts.

Each student will be added under their elementary teacher or their advisory teacher. Like teachers, each student will have their own Reader Dashboard.

Through their Dashboard, Readers and Parents can easily:

  • See their donation and reading minute progress
  • Log reading minutes at home
  • Make donations
  • Visit the Prize Store
  • Access their personal donation page and share it with family and friends:

Prize Store

Throughout the Read-A-Thon, Readers will be able check out the Prize Store from their Dashboard. Readers will be to shop at the store with RAT Bucks they receive via collecting donations. They will earn RAT Bucks equivalent to 15% of the funds they raise. For example, a Reader who raises $20 in donations would have $3 in RAT Bucks to spend.

While there are some big-ticket prizes, most are under $8 with many in the $3 and under range. You can view a snapshot of the prize store here (items will vary based on stock).

Readers will have up to 10 days after the end of our Read-A-Thon to select prizes before the shop closes. Prizes will be delivered through school a few weeks after the Read-A-Thon.

General Donation Link

While each reader will have their own personal donation page, there is a link for general donations: https://www.read-a-thon.com/school/_64729

Clicking the ‘Donate’ button on this page will prompt the generous community member to either select a reader to donate through, to donate to the general group, or to donate as a business sponsor.

Business and Corporate Sponsors

You can invite local businesses and corporations to become sponsors of our fundraiser on Read-a-thon.com (link HERE) at three different levels:

  • Supporter: Donation of $200-499.99
  • Advocate: Donation of $500-14,499.99
  • Champion: Donation of $1,500+

All business sponsors will have their logo and name shared on the various websites throughout our Read-A-Thon after signing up, but the higher donations options have additional avenues for sharing their name and info with the community via handouts and/or bookmarks that will be given to families at the end of the fundraiser.

How it Works for Teachers

Before the start of the Read-A-Thon, all Elementary Teachers will receive a code to sign into their Read-A-Thon account. Middle School Teachers will receive shared account details for ‘6th Grade’, ‘7th Grade’, and ‘8th Grade’ accounts for their students.

Once our Read-a-thon begins, teachers will be able to log group reading sessions for their classes that will record reading minutes for all the students marked in attendance.

Each class will have a page they can share that shows collectively how many minutes they’ve read and donations they’ve received. It can be a fun snapshot to show families during our Read-a-thon.
